LONGFORD ward councillor Judith Lloyd is the borough's new Mayor.

She was installed as the borough's first citizen for 2017-17 at the annual council meeting on May 25.

She said: "It is a huge honour and privilege for me to be selected to represent Trafford as its first citizen.

"Having moved to the borough in 1974, the year that Trafford was established as a Greater Manchester borough, I have always known what a great area it is and what wonderful diverse communities we have.

"Throughout my Mayoral year I am especially looking forward to having the chance to meet more local people and groups and see at first hand some of the amazing work and enthusiasm they have for Trafford."

Cllr Lloyd has served on Trafford Council since 1998, representing Longford Ward. 
She was born in Sunderland but came to Trafford from Leicester when she married. She has four children.  
Councillor Lloyd is also on two school governing bodies and serves as a Trustee on Trafford Domestic Abuse Services. 
She trained as a nurse with the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service. Clr Lloyd has also worked locally in a hospital and as a practice nurse. She has also worked in the voluntary sector as an information advice and support coordinator. 
Her interests are travelling, researching family history, reading, theatre, music and gardening. 
The charities she will be supporting are the Stroke Association and Trafford Domestic Abuse Services.

Her Mayoress for the year is Noelle Ryder.

At the same meeting, Cllr Jonathan Coupe was confirmed as this year's Deputy Mayor, and his wife Mrs Diane Coupe the Deputy Mayoress.
