TWO men have will spend seven-and-a-half years behind bars for their role in the ‘cold-blooded’ murder of Urmston shooting victim Andre Marshall.

Today, Danial Shahid, 19, of Carlton Street, Old Trafford, was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of assisting an offender at Manchester Crown Court.

His friend Kadell Rivers, 21, of Skelton Road, Stretford, pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and possession of an offensive weapon and was handed a three-and-a-half year jail sentence earlier today.

The charges relate to the murder of 29-year-old Andre Marshall, whose body was found lying in the road in Manor Park, near to St Clement’s Church, Urmston, on the morning of May 20, last year.

Marshall died after being shot in the early hours of the morning.

A post-mortem examination later established he had died from gunshot wounds to the leg and torso.

Soon after the shooting, Abdul Quadar Ahsan, 19, of Upper Chorlton Road, Old Trafford, was arrested on suspicion of Marshall’s murder. Ahsan skipped bail and disappeared following his arrest. Police are still looking for the teenager for further questioning.

In November 2015, Shahid and Rivers were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones of the Major Incident Team said: “Danial Shahid and Kadell Rivers have today been sentenced following an extensive investigation and, in Shahid’s case, a full trial.

“Andre Marshall was murdered in cold blood. I hope that the commitment we have shown in bringing to justice those people who help others, in the full knowledge that a man lost his life to a violent act, sends a clear message that Greater Manchester Police will not leave any stone unturned.”
