YOUNG people in Trafford are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote ahead of the upcoming referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union.

The call to 18 to 24 year olds comes from Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green, as new figures reveal that 31 per cent fewer young people in Stretford and Urmston are registered to vote now than in December 2014.

The deadline to register to vote in time for the EU referendum is June 7. You can register to vote online by visiting https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Ms green said: “Young people’s opinions matter just as much as the rest of our community, but the views of young people can be drowned out by older people if they’re not registered to vote.

“It takes no more than five minutes to register to vote online, you just need your national insurance number. Make sure you register to let your voice be heard.”
