PUPILS at a Stretford school are so pleased with their new outdoor classroom that they are preparing to make a song and dance about it.

The eight classes at Moss Park Infants are gearing up for a sponsored sing to raise funds for the new facility.

They will be bursting into song on June 28 - with each class taking it in turns to sing for 30 minutes.

There will be other musical events happening around school on the day, including a rock/blues-playing vicar, classical string playing and a saxophone player. The staff will put on a musical assembly prior to the singathon.

A run-down school courtyard has already been transformed into an outdoor classroom, and it was opened by MP Kate Green in April.

Part of the cost was covered by a lottery grant, but the school is holding the singathon as it still needs to raise funds for the facility, as well as replenish school funds.

Headteacher Kelly Butler said: "The children have really understood the importance of fund raising to make their dream become a reality.

"This is just the beginning of what we can achieve if we come together as a community and raise money for our school.

"Parents have been an inspiration and joy to work with during this project. I can't thank everyone enough."

MP Kate Green said: “The Moss Park Infants Singathon is a fun and exciting way to raise money for the school’s fabulous outdoor classroom.

" I’d like to wish all children, their parents and their teachers at Moss Park best of luck with the Singathon. I hope that people give generously and lots of money is raised."
