AN Altrincham couple are about to reach a milestone moment opening their 25th Costa Coffee shop – and it’s in Trafford.

In the past 10 years, Simon Vardy and his wife and business partner Tracy have opened 24 of the popular franchises across the North - creating more than 300 jobs.

The business duo are now set to open their latest – and 25th – coffee shop in Stretford Mall.

“As a local company, being able to create jobs in Greater Manchester is really important to us,” said Simon.

“It’s a big commitment and with the opening of Costa at the Mall we’re really pleased to be able to invest in Stretford.”

When the newest arrival at Stretford Mall opens in early May it will create a further six full-time and four part-time jobs, with that number set to grow in the near future. Simon said he was looking forward to bringing Costa Coffee into the heart of Stretford.

He said: “We’ve wanted to bring Costa to Stretford for a little while and now feels like the perfect time to do so. The continued investment in the mall combined with the desire for real, quality coffee and the diverse offering here at the centre makes it feel like a perfect fit. We’re really pleased to be the first people to be able to bring Costa to Stretford town centre and we really can’t wait to get going.”

Stretford Mall centre manager Gareth Wilkins said he was delighted to be able to welcome Costa Coffee to the centre.

“After the recent works to the market area and the upcoming arrival of Aldi, Costa coming to the centre demonstrates that Stretford Mall is a very attractive proposition for shoppers, businesses and entrepreneurs like Simon,” he said.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Simon, Tracy and their team to the centre, and are really pleased to be able to continue to offer such a varied mix to our customers.”
