AN Old Trafford dog owner who told PCSOs that he would not pick up his pooch’s poo ‘even if he was paid’ has been slapped with a hefty fine.

Christopher Mathew Krukowski, 25, of Rushmere Walk, has been convicted of a dog fouling offence following an incident in Stretford’s Hullard Park in November 2015.

The court heard how Police Community Support Officers witnessed Krukowski failing to clean up his dog’s mess whilst walking in the park.

When offered a bag by the officers he stated that ‘even if he was paid, he would not pick it up’ and walked away informing them to ‘put it on his tab’.

He appeared in Trafford Magistrates’ Court on Friday March 11 to face a charge of dog fouling.

Pleading guilty to the offence, the court issued Krukowski with a £60 fine, costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £20 - a total penalty of £180. The money is currently being recovered at a rate of £45 per month.

Trafford Council’s Environmental Improvement Team said the prosecution should serve as a warning to other dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets.

Cllr John Reilly, executive member for environment, said: “The council has been promoting the ‘Be Responsible’ message for more than12 months and I’d like to thank the many people who have got the message and are now regularly cleaning up after their pets.

“Unfortunately there are still a few people who think that it is acceptable to leave dog mess on our parks and streets. Our message to those who don’t comply is simply that we will catch you and we will prosecute those individuals giving responsible dog owners a bad name.”
