ORGANISERS of a Greater Manchester wide pension road show on February 15 are urging business owners yet to make arrangements for the Government’s new auto enrolment laws to attend.

The Old Trafford event, organised by Federation of Small Businesses, will see a pension expert talk employers through the new legal requirements being phased in, explain which staff need to be in a pension scheme, and how much it will likely cost.

The session will also show the easiest way to set up an auto enrolment compliant scheme for staff, and conclude with an open question and answer session.

The morning event takes place at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

The FSB’s regional chairman for Manchester and North Cheshire, Simon Edmondson, said: “I would urge any business owners with staff yet to set up a pension scheme to come along to one of these events. Time is fast running out and those who miss their pension staging date will almost certainly be fined by the pension watchdog.

“If a business employs staff - even just one - over the age of 21, earning more than £5,772 a year, then they must have a pension scheme in place. And it doesn’t matter if the staff don’t want to join the scheme, the business by law will still need to have something in place.”

The event is free and includes a light buffet and refreshments. Attendees must sign up through Eventbrite – email robert.downes@fsb.org.uk for a link or telephone: 0791 762 8905 for more details.
