COUNCIL leader Sean Anstee has spoken movingly after police looking for missing Sale resident Caspar Blackburn found the body of a man in a canal.
Caspar Blackburn, aged 22, was last seen at the Slug and Lettuce bar in Sale in the early hours of Sunday, October 1.
Officers were called shortly after 10am on Saturday to a report that there was a body in the canal in Sale, near to Springfield Road.
Police are investigating the man’s death, which is not believed to be suspicious.
Cllr Anstee said: "It has been devastating to hear the tragic news that the body of Caspar Blackburn was recovered from the Bridgewater Canal in Sale on Saturday.
"Since being reported missing, many in our communities were very concerned for Caspar’s welfare and will have dreaded this outcome.
"On behalf of Trafford Council, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Caspar’s family and friends at this extremely difficult and distressing time for them."
