MANCHESTER Fuchsia Society is celebrating a successful Annual Show on August 12.
A new format this year with the Show being held in the afternoon and also with the venue being at our clubroom, namely St.Anne’s Church Hall , Sale Moor.
Peter Barnes, the show manager, said that he was highly delighted on the results of the Show. He went on to say: “We had a good display of various fuchsia plants from our members and the standard attained for exhibiting was excellent.”
The Judge for the afternoon was Tony Jones , from Notcutts Garden Centre, Woodford who not only judged the plants but also presented the various trophies to the winners.
He said: " I thought the show was of a very high standard and was made somewhat difficult to judge with all the different categories of fuchsias and the large volumes and plants quality on show.
"The members of the Society should be very proud of their efforts"
The Best Plant in Show was a fuchsia grown as a standard and exhibited by Bill Martin of Poynton. The winner in the Novice Class was a fuchsia plant grown and exhibited by Harrison Kay, of Edgeley, Stockport.
Chairman Barry Taylor said a big thank you to everyone for their efforts on the day.
He added how encouraging it was to have seen so many members of the public come and give their support. Maybe a challenge for next year would be to have them consider entering the show, or better still to come and become a member of the Society, said Mr Jones.
The society meets on the third Monday of each month at 7.45pm at St. Anne’s Church Hall, Trinity Road, Sale Moor.
