IRWELL Valley Housing Association is backing a campaign to get people out and about cleaning up their communities this Friday and throughout March- with the first tidy session taking place in Sale.

Irwell Valley Housing will be encouraging and supporting groups and individuals who want to ‘do their bit’ to help clear up the litter that blights our streets, parks and other public spaces.

The housing association provides housing and management services to over 16,000 people across Greater Manchester, including Trafford.

Andrea Spamer, head of tenancy services. Irwell Valley, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Great British Spring Clean. This Friday, March 3 we will be starting from the Sale West Community Centre, Newbury Avenue at 10am, so please come and join us.

"The details are on our Facebook page at www.irwellvalleyha.co.uk But this isn’t just a clean up. Irwell Valley will be getting the message out that there are heavy penalties for littering and fly-tipping.”

The brand new Great British Spring Clean rolls out for the first time in 2017, with a view to it becoming an annual event helping to bring people together and clean up the country.

TV wildlife presenter and children’s favourite Steve Backshall is lending his support to the campaign, which is backed by the key anti-litter charities Many other organisations will also be supporting the clean up including the Women’s Institute, CPRE, RSPB, Cleanup UK, Greenspace Scotland and the RSPCA, as well as a range of businesses. end
