SALE man Chris Glaba's courageous battle against terminal cancer has inspired his sister and the company he works for to launch fundraising drives.

Chris, aged 27, was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and despite a brave battle his condition is now terminal.

He has been told he has only months to live.

His sister, Nicola, recently launched an appeal that has raised almost £15,000, to help him achieve a 'bucket list' of activities.

Launching her appeal, Nicola, aged 29, said: "Chris is really sick and has not got much time on his hands. So we want to make what time he has left the best it can be."

Chris said he had always wanted to get married - and on November 13 part of the fund was used to make this dream come true. He got married to his best female friend at a 'fake' wedding in Altrincham, with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard DJing, followed by a celebration party.

That will be followed up by a fundraising event, Glabstonbury, at the Manchester venue Sound Control on November 20, with Maximo Park, the Bluetones and Happy Mondays band member Bez among the acts.

Chris worked for ticket company Skiddle and he has inspired the firm to pledge to raise £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by the end of 2017.

The company has already generated £45,000 through a combination of checkout donations from their customers and company initiatives, with the company’s complete plans to hit the target in 2017 set to be laid out before the new year begins.

Skiddle's Jimmy Coultas said: "Throughout his illness the work and support of Macmillan - to Chris, his family and the Skiddle team – has been exemplary, and as such the company and all their employees are determined to raise as much money as possible to help fight this savage disease."
