BBC broadcaster Diane Oxberry will be lighting up Sale Moor this weekend.

Weather presenter Diane, who lives in Sale, will be doing the honours of switching on the village’s Christmas Lights on Sunday November 20.

The We Are Sale Moor group rallied together the community to raise funds for lights and decorations. They have managed to smash their revised target of £3,600 to ensure the village is not left in the dark this Christmas.

The event will take place on Warrener Street car park from 5.30pm and 8pm, with the switch-on anticipated to take place at 6.15pm.

The Salvation Army Band will be performing throughout the night with carol singers.

Mac Daddies will be on hand to offer food and drink and special guests include the Mayor of Trafford Judith Lloyd and Father Christmas.

“We hope people will stick around for the full event as so much work has gone into it,” said Christine Houlding, of We Are Sale Moor.

“It should be a great night.”
