RESIDENTS are being invited to hear about the latest options for developing Warrener Street car park in Sale Moor.

Council chiefs are holding a public drop-in event at Lime Tree Primary Academy on Tuesday, November 22, at 4.30pm-7pm.

They can review the findings of a consultation event held in September.

Council bosses say the public consultation event held in September didn’t identify a single preferred option for the site but did reveal the key aspirations and concerns of residents.  They say in response to the feedback received, a number of new alternative development options have been worked up.

Earlier this year, Kirkland Developments was given planning permission to erect a new 1,140sq metre food store and two three-bedroom semi-detached houses on Warrener Street Car Park, the site of the IMO car wash on Northenden Road and 26a Marsland Road.

That was despite a campaign by residents and traders to block the scheme. The council, which has appointed a company to carry out the feasibility study, said in a statement this week: “As a publicly owned asset the council must ensure that development of the car park site achieves best value in both financial and socio-economic terms.”
