HUNDREDS of homes were plunged into darkness last night after a car crashed into an electrical box in Sale – leading to a drink and drug driving arrest.
A car smashed into an electrical box in Walton Road, at its junction with Eastway, at around 6.40pm on Sunday November 7.
Damage to the electrical box caused a blackout in the area and Trafford Council and the fire service scrambled to put emergency measures in place for residents affected.
Some residents reported that power came back on at around 3.30am this morning.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink and drugs. It is not yet clear if he was the driver of the crashed car.
