A SALE man who fell critically ill in China has finally left hospital – and generous donators have contributed more than £20,000 towards his enormous medical bills.

Adam Henshall Jones, 29, was left in a critical condition after collapsing on a shopping trip on October 7.

He was rushed to hospital and a scan revealed three blood clots on his brain.

Adam, a former Tyntesfield Primary School Ashton on Mersey School pupil, underwent an operation but doctors warned his devastated family his illness could be life-changing.

The English teacher and his wife Zhiyuan Geng were making plans to move back to the UK after spending the past eighteen months living and working in China.

However, with the absence of health insurance or a national health service, all of the couple’s savings were eaten away by lengthy medical bills.

Sister-in-law Kate Henshall Jones, who is married to Adam’s brother David, set up a Just Giving page to raise much needed funds to cover hospital costs, expected to upwards of £30,000.

What ensued was an outpouring of generosity, with people flocking to the page to make a donation. To date, £20,800 has been raised.

Adam has now left hospital and is recovering ‘very well’ at home. Kate said he is building up his strength to see a specialist in Shanghai, who will hopefully operate on the other two clots.

“Adam’s currently spending some quality time with his parents and wife, as they are still over there with him,” said Kate.

“His mum and wife baked loads of cupcakes and took them to the doctors and nurses to say thank you, as they wanted to do something nice for them. They've been so good with Adam. The money is over £20,000 now, which is fantastic. We are hoping this will help him with his next operations and hospital stays.

“We can't thank everyone enough it's been unbelievable how kind everyone's been.”
