A SALE school raised more than £400 for The Childhood Tumour Trust in support of a fellow pupil.

Children at Forest Park Preparatory School organised a fundraising day on Thursday October 6, after being inspired by 6-year-old student Ellie Jim, who has Neurofibromatosis (NF1).

As well as multiple tumours, NF can cause complications that include blindness, deafness, disfigurement, severe pain, skeletal problems and cancer.

Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 dressed up in their House colours, red, blue and green, and purchased tickets to take part in a range of fun activities organised by the school’s House Captains and Year 6 pupils.

Money raised from the ticket purchases and other donations made during the event will go directly to The Childhood Tumour Trust, which supports children and young people with Neurofibromatosis (NF1).

Head teacher Nick Tucker said: “At Forest Park, we organise several charity events every year and we always have great support from our children and families. We are all thrilled to have raised such a large sum of money for this very worthwhile cause.”

Prior to the event, Ellie’s mum Dr Carly Jim, who is a member of the board of trustees at The Childhood Tumour Trust, held a special assembly at the school to talk about the condition and help launch the fundraising effort.

Dr Jim, from Sale, said: “I am delighted the School is supporting the charity to help improve the well-being of children and young people with NF1 and their families.”
