IT was full swing at a Sale charity’s 2016 golf day, boosting its coffers by more than £15,000.

Disability charity Stockdales held its annual golf day recently at Sale Golf Club.

The event was sponsored and won by Denton company E-Foods Ltd, helping to raise more than £15,000 for the charity, which supports more than 200 people with learning disabilities and their families through its residential and community services.

Twenty teams took to the course at the charity’s fifth golf day in June to play against each other in the overall competition and the Beat the Pro round.

Unfortunately, bad weather conditions cut the competition short but that didn’t deter the players, who had an evening of entertainment and fundraising to look forward to.

Fundraising manager, Natalie James said: “We were a little worried at the beginning because it was raining and we thought we might have to abandon play. Thankfully, it eased off and our players were able to get out on the course for a few hours.”

Natalie said she and the charity are ‘absolutely delighted’ with the amount raised.

“It will go a long way to helping us with our work helping people with learning disabilities locally,” she added. “Big thanks goes to everyone who helped to organise the event, our supporters and everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes.

“Special thanks and congratulations goes to the wonderful E-Foods Ltd who very generously sponsored the golf day again for us, along with being the winners. We wouldn’t be able to raise this incredible amount without this very kind help.”
