A SALE couple are toasting to 60 years of wedded bliss.
Gerald and Doreen Thompson, 81 and 82 respectively, are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.
The pair tied the knot in Selby, Yorkshire, on June 30 1956.
They met when Gerald was in the RAF, which he served in for three years.
The newlyweds moved to Sale in 1957 and went on to have three sons, Michael, Terrance and Ronald. Down the years, Gerald and Doreen saw their family grow, welcoming five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Both said that the most treasured memory together was the birth of their first child.
And the secret to a long and successful union? Working together – and agreeing with your wife.
