MECCA Sale Bingo employee, Pam Wilkins, is celebrating after being named regional charity champion for the North West, thanks to her fundraising contributions towards THE charity Carers Trust.

The awards, celebrated the fact that £1 million has been raised for the charity in the past year by Mecca teams across the country, with Pam recognised as Rank Cares Regional Champion for the North West of England by senior executives from Mecca Bingo and Carers Trust.

The partnership between the charity and the Rank Group, which owns Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casinos, began in February 2014 and saw the Sale club take part in a host of different activities to raise funds.

Throughout the year, Pam, who is a team leader at Mecca Sale, has organised a whole range of fundraising events from in-club promotions to fancy dress events, one of which included the club manager running around the club in his shorts and tshirt, all to raise more money for Carers Trust.

Overall, Pam has managed to raise almost £2,500 towards the total amount across the UK in the last year.

Pam said: “It’s a great privilege and honour to be recognised and rewarded for my fundraising efforts.

“It was a complete surprise when they announced that I had won. I am completely over the moon and cannot thank my colleagues at Mecca Sale enough for helping raise a fantastic amount of money for such a deserving cause. Our customers are truly one-of-a-kind and without their support and generosity, we wouldn’t be celebrating this award.”

Cherry Tatlow, Rank Charity Partnership Manager, said, “It’s thanks to the hard work and passion from charity champions like Pam that the second year of our partnership with Carers Trust has been such a success."
