BROOKLANDS Probus Club was formed in 1976 as a result of the growth of the original Sale club.

As interest grew in this new 'movement' for retired or semi-retired professional and businessmen, so membership levels grew rapidly.

It was decided that a new club be formed with 10 members of the Sale club being asked, along with 20 members on the waiting list to form the new club.

As soon as the club reached a suitable size the 10 Sale members would return to their own club.

The first meetings were held at Park House and the committee comprised of Frank Laughton, Rev. Louttit, Len Mainprize, Eric Peat and Frank Davidson.

The bowls section arrived shortly afterwards and in 1978 competitions commenced between the two clubs, with trophies provided by Frank Davidson.

The club flourished and continued to meet at Park House until 1990 when it moved St. Johns and then to RAFA in 1992.

In 1994 the club moved to its current home at the Salvation Army Citadel in Ashton Lane.

The club has provided friendship and companionship for many people for the past 40 years and hopefully will continue to do

so for many more years to come.

A limited number of vacancies are currently available and interested parties should contact Keith Thompson.
