BRASS and Voices, a combined concert in aid of the Mayor’s Charity, will take place at the Salvation Army church on Ashton Lane, Sale, on Saturday, February 6th at 7pm.

Not only will three choirs – the Meadway Singers, the Meadway Youth Choir and Sale Male Voice Choir - perform, but Sale Brass Band will also entertain.

This month the band won, for the second time, the National Butlins Mineworkers Brass Band contest and, in November, came third in the Northwest Area Brass Band Contest.

Alan Seymour will conduct them as they perform popular favourites such as Singing in the Rain, Jolson Memories and Music of the Night.

The Meadway Singers, all women, conducted by Varsie Clare and accompanied by Simon Sharpe will include Chariots’ Coming, Side by Side and All that Jazz.

Sale Male Voice Choir, under the baton of Jessie Davies, with Margaret Jones accompanying, will enchant the audience with Amen, Let there be Peace on Earth and, that Welsh favourite, Gwahoddiad, among others.

Teenaged members of Meadway Youth Choir, will capture hearts when, conducted by Alison Daniel, accompanied by Gareth Daniel, they sing numbers such as Streets of London and Let it Go.

Peter Cooper, chairman of Trafford Arts Association, which has sponsored the event since it began more than 20 years ago, said: “Trafford Arts Association is happy to support this worthwhile charity event at such a wonderful venue.”

Tickets, priced £8, are available by telephoning 0161 962 4591 or 07341 332 769.
