TWO brothers-in-law from Trafford are shaping the food map of Manchester, writes Alec Herron.

Scott Power, 33, and Sean Robinson, 29, from Urmston and Sale respectively, will soon move their successful ‘Guerrilla Eats’ street food event to a new location in Shudehill and expect its stratospheric popularity to continue.

“Over a few beers one night we got talking about the renaissance of the burger,” Says Scott, of Gloucester Road, Urmston, “So we wondered, well, what’s happening with the hot dog?”

On the back of mild success hosting a hot dog stall, the friendly in-laws realised the potential strength in numbers for street food vendors.

“We got some other like-minded street food traders together and set up shop on a Deansgate car park.”

“100 people turned up - We knew were on to something.”

Following successful ‘Guerrilla Eats’ in varied Ancoats locations and receiving the CityLife ‘Casual Dining Award’ last year, Urmston-resident Scott and brother-in-law Sean, who grew up in Sale and now lives in Stretford, will begin a weekly residency at The Wonder Inn, Shudehill a 200-years old, Grade II-listed former paper mill, from March 14.

“We started Guerrilla Eats because we’re street food traders ourselves.” Says Scott ahead of the launch, will will see Guerrilla Eats hosting their food market from 5pm-12midnight each Saturday, “We don’t price people out and all the family is welcome.”

Children are allowed until 9pm.

Scott revealed plans may be afoot for similar Guerrilla Eat events in Urmston.

“We would love to have a more market-based event out of town. It’s on our radar.”
