A BARMAN was punched in the face and had his bag stolen during a robbery in Sale.

It happened in a small car park at the back of the Slug and Lettuce at around 2am on June 14.

The man, 25, had just finished a shift at the School Road bar and was making his way to his car when he was approached by two men.

One of the offenders demanded his satchel, while the other punched him in the face and forcibly removed the bag before the duo ran off. The satchel is light brown with a clip that secures the main flap.

The first thief is described as white, about 17 to 19-years-old, 5ft 8in tall, clean shaven with a round face and spoke with a Manchester accent.

He was wearing glasses and a black hooded top with the hood pulled up.

The other offender was also white and of a similar age, about 5ft 10in tall, of a medium build and clean shaven with a chiselled jaw.

He had light brown hair and was wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled up.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Det Con David Wood said: "The barman was simply trying to get to his car to go home after a shift when he was confronted by these two opportunistic thieves who assaulted him before stealing his satchel.

"Clearly the barman was shocked to be violently targeted in this way and wants not only for his rightful property to be returned but to see his two assailants face justice.

"I would therefore appeal to anyone who has information about what happened to come forward.

"If you saw these men lurking near the bar or suspect you know who may be involved, then please call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
