POLICE have donated 10 stolen and unclaimed bikes to charity.

Officers from Trafford South Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team (INPT) donated the cycles to G Force, a charity which works with children, young people and adults in south Trafford.

G Force teach youngsters how to repair the donated bikes and have, on occasion, given them away to deserving young people who may not own a bike but show a real interest in cycling.

Insp Laura Burgess, from Trafford South INPT, said: “It’s great that the police can help local community groups to help progress community projects that residents can benefit from.

“The bikes are from a variety of sources and often go to auctions but this is another way to use them for positive benefit in our communities.”

G Force now aims to start an all ages cycling club on the Broomwood Esate.

Paul Huxley, from G-Force, said: “This will be a massive help creating a reserve of bikes that could be used by people who want to join but haven’t got a bike.
“It will give this project a real boost.”
