A SALE mum is leading an Easter egg appeal for a children’s ward after seeing the bravery of young patients while her son was treated there.

Victoria Green is the charity fund-raising co-ordinator for H&T in Stretford Mall, and decided to nominate the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) to benefit from the mall’s latest egg appeal, after her son was treated there as an outpatient.

Victoria, who is 38 and works at the pawnbrokers part-time, said: “We were so moved by the young children we encountered that we felt it would be nice to do something for them all.

“The little ones especially were so courageous, smiling and joking with the doctors and nurses there to help them.”

Victoria is now urging H&T customers to donate Easter eggs – she hopes to collect 318 in all – equal to the number of beds in the RMCH.

She has already collected 139, having started off with four just three weeks ago and welcomes all egg donations, no matter how small.

“All they have to do is pop into our shop here with a chocolate egg,” said Victoria, who is a sales assistant as well as the H&T charities appeal organiser.

Joel Oxberry, corporate fundraising manager at the RMCH, said: “She’s really helped the hospital and has shown so much energy and drive.

“We’re very grateful to H&T and everyone who’s donated, they’ve already collected an amazing amount of eggs.”
