THE Partington Pledge, which aims to get more young people around Trafford into employment, has received arguably its most high-profile partner to date – Manchester United.

The pledge was originally launched in April 2013 and has to date help 85 people aged 16 to 24 into work through its 14 partners.

But Trafford Council has now managed to enlist the help of the Premier League champions, who believe they can make a real difference to young residents seeking work.

Michael Bolingbroke, Manchester United’s chief operating officer, said: “The club is proud to support this scheme to help young people who live close to the Aon Training Complex in Carrington to develop skills and find work.

“Youth unemployment is a real problem in our country and schemes like this are a welcome addition to efforts to tackle it.”
