A PARTINGTON pensioner is having her hair completely shaved off in aid of a cause very close to her heart.

Jacqueline Taylor’s husband Geoffrey died three years ago due to a very enlarged heart, so will be having the chop at the Ladycare hair salon, in Urmston, in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Salon owner, Diane Giorgiou, said she wanted to raise some money for charity, but Jacquie would only agree to do it if it was for the BHF.

Jacquie, who is 67, has been a Ladycare customer for more than 20 years, said: “There was nothing they could do for my husband at the time, so any support I can give them to stop another person dying I will.”

The former dress-maker and machinist said: “It started off as a joke, but then somebody bought me a wig and I thought I can’t back out now.”

Jacquie said she has never done anything so drastic before and is slightly worried about losing her shoulder length hair, but is happy to do it for a worthwhile cause.
“I am a little apprehensive, but I’m not looking to replace my husband so I don’t really give a monkeys what I look like,” Jacquie joked.

Diane said she is really pleased that Jacquie is having her head shaved on August 21 and would love others to do the same.
