TRAFFORD Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) received a much needed boost to their funds with a joint donation of £2,000 from Carrington Power Station construction partners Alstom and DF. The money will go towards providing over a month’s supply of non-perishable goods for the food bank that operates out of the former Partington Youth Centre.

Dale Maskell, chief officer at Citizens Advice Trafford said: “The donation means that we can help people in the greatest need to overcome a crisis they are experiencing, by providing immediate help in the short term.

“Working with the NHS and public health organisations, we have pulled together the healthiest food pack within a budget for non-perishable foods and products.”

The food bank currently provides up to 150 bags of food per month to people in need in and across the Trafford area through the ‘Trafford Assist’ scheme. Dale added “The demand for the food bags was in excess of our original estimates, so the additional funding from Alstom and DF has made a real difference.”

Rainer Lueoend, project manager for Alstom, said: “We’re delighted to be associated with this good cause and are committed to assisting schemes such as this as we build the power station. The food bank is an excellent way of helping local people who are, unfortunately, in crisis.”

Cllr Karen Barclay, executive member for community health, said “ The food bank has been developed through partnership working between the council and the Citizens Advice Bureau. It is providing vital assistance for some of our most vulnerable residents who are facing a crisis. The generous donation from Alstom and DF means that our scarce resources can go further.”

Consortium leaders Alstom and their partners DF are building the 880MW gas-fired power station at Carrington.
