Group branches out to mark the Diamond Jubilee
VOLUNTEERS from the Friends of Denzell Gardens and the Devisdale in Bowdon took part in a national tree planting movement to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The group, pictured, received a free ‘105-tree pack’ from the Woodland Trust.
They planted a wide variety of trees, including an oak that will be grown from an acorn from one of the Royal estates.
This will be the group’s ‘Jubilee Oak’, but its location won't be disclosed until it has increased in size.
Victoria Hodson, from the Woodland Trust, said: "The UK is actually the least wooded country in Europe, with only about a quarter of the European average, so we are delighted that the Friends of Denzell Gardens and the Devisdale are helping reverse this trend.”
