PLANNING chiefs have given the green light for an extension to a house in the south Hale conservation area, despite the objections of neighbours.
Ten letters were sent in opposing the application for a side and rear extension to the house on Amberley Drive, Hale Barns.
Neighbours claimed it would be out of character with the neo-Georgian-style houses on the road.
But members of the planning committee unanimously approved the scheme.
Committee member Cllr Nigel Hooley said: "I was surprised at the number of objections from neighbours when so many houses have double garages and extensions.
"There is no way this is an overdevelopment."
Cllr Karen Barclay said: "The road has a lovely sense of community and I understand residents don't want anything built that would destroy that feel.
"But I don't think this would put that Georgian feel under any threat at all."
