ALTRINCHAM is holding a Peace Festival next month.

The inaugural Peace Fest 2017 will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September between 10am and 7pm at the Hale Barns Organic Meadow, Hasty Lane.

The organisers have created a unique family friendly event themed around promoting peace and wellbeing through live entertainment and fitness/sporting activities and to raise money for a local charity.

It also takes some inspiration from 1960s peace movement.

There will be a small entrance fee on the gate to the event for adults but free entry for anyone under 16 years old. The event will be raising funds for the Altrincham based charity, the Counselling and Family Centre through various activities over the weekend including a raffle.

There will be a wide range of family friendly activities including Goat Yoga, Graffiti art (live creation), craft and dance workshops, health and wellbeing demonstrations, a mini fun fair for kids, a sports tournament for young people, display of farm animals from Wythenshawe Community Farm, and a five-hour concert with live music, singing and dancing from all cultures plus lots more.

Families will also be able to enjoy a selection of exotic and healthy foods and drinks. We hope people will have a picnic at the venue whilst enjoying the atmosphere and performances on the main stage.

There is an exciting line up of artists – Sugarfoot DJs, The Manchester School of Samba, Hardwicke Circus (band), Gobble de Gook (band), The Chanteuse (Lucy Hope), Ri & Ri Dance Academy (dance), The Ash Company (dance) and Amanda Heywood plus many more performing over the weekend on the main stage, which will include an amazing opening ceremony at about 3pm on Saturday and a spectacular finale on Sunday evening with a firework display.

The event is being organised in collaboration between Altrincham French Festival and F4C, a Hale based charity, supported by the World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) and Made in Cheshire. The event will be attended by local dignitaries and community leaders.

Event Organiser, Zainul Sachak (Director of Altrincham French Festival) said:

“Given the uncertainty created by the recent troubles both at home and abroad, we have organised this unique festival themed around peace, health and wellbeing to bring our communities together and to help raise funds for the Counselling and Family Centre, an Altrincham based charity.

"In addition to having an exciting line up of artists performing over the two days, we bring to South Manchester a new wellbeing craze – Goat Yoga and a fashion show by young people – Hope & Story. There is plenty for all to do and we hope many will have a picnic at the venue whilst enjoying the atmosphere and performances on the main stage. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Martin Buckle, the MD of Altrincham based business Atlantic Timber, who are sponsors of the Peace Festival, said: “Atlantic Timber is proud to support local community charity projects, especially ones that promote health and wellbeing. Hopefully the games we’ve produced will stimulate the mind and the body and get people active, increasing peoples wellbeing as a result.“
