A LEADING Tory MP is calling on TV's Channel 4 bosses to relocate to Salford.

Altrincham MP Graham Brady has tabled a motion in the House of Commons calling on the broadcaster which is moving out of Westminster to come North to Media City.

Mr Brady's motion say: "This house welcomes the government’s determination to move broadcaster Channel Four Television out of London; notes that Media City describes itself as a waterfront destination for Manchester with digital creativity, learning and leisure at heart and recommends that Channel 4 finds a welcome home there by relocating there to join the Northern Powerhouse of Broadcasting.

Mr Brady added: "Instead of paying for an expensive premises in central London, It is a much better idea for Channel Four to be based in the North West and to take advantage of all the talent and fantastic facilities we have to offer."

Since the planned move was announced, it has triggered a hectic round of political and commercial lobbying with Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds being touted as possible locations.

Earlier this yea,r Andy Burnham, the now Greater Manchester Mayor, wrote to Minister Karen Bradley, saying he believed Media City was the only viable alternative outside London.
