THERE will be even more reason to celebrate when Dunham Massey's Rose Queen Festival takes place on May 13 - it is the annual event's golden anniversary.

Organisers have marked the landmark by inviting back previous Rose Queens and Rose Buds to join in the festivities.

There will also be an exhibition of photos and newspaper articles from over the 50 years the festival has been running.

This year, Altrincham Girls' Grammar School pupil Lottie Bardwell, aged 12,  (left) will be crowned Rose Queen and 10-year-old Shula Halsall, who attends Bowdon Church School, will be crowned Rose Bud.

Both girls are looking forward to the event and to raising money for their respective charities over the coming year - Once Upon a Smile and Lumos.

Organisers are hoping for a big turnout when the procession begins at 1pm from in front of Dunham Massey Hall and then proceeds through the village to the village hall for the crowning at 2pm.
