THE team running Bowdon's Duke of Edinburgh Award recently celebrated achieving its target of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the popular national award scheme by achieving a 'Double Diamond'.
DofE Manager Will Sudworth explained: "We started the scheme just four years ago at our Church of England Parish, with just a handful of volunteers supporting 39 young people through expeditions.
"If you'd have asked us back then to help more than 120 (the Double Diamond) through expeditions we'd have thought you were crazy."
Each of the organising team received a DofE Diamond Award to recognise the achievement.
An award ceremony for the young people is being planned for March 12 at St Mary's Church, Bowdon.
