THE team at a Hale wealth management firm have spread some festive cheer by supporting Barnardo's Children Centres in a Christmas gift buying mission.

Gresham Wealth Management, a chartered IFA firm, decided to forgo Secret Santa in the office, with the team members instead contributing to a fund to purchase gifts for underprivileged families in the Wythenshawe area.

This year, with a little help from Gresham’s directors, the team had a budget of £500 – enabling them to purchase Christmas gifts for nine families to be delivered by the Wythenshawe Barnardo's Children Centres on Christmas Day.

The firm was provided with the names and ages of the children in advance – enabling them to buy gifts that they know will be appreciated and loved. With many of the children in the appeal being from single parent families, the team have dug deep and also purchased gifts for the mums – ensuring the whole family have something to open on Christmas morning.

Morven Millar, director at Gresham, said: “Whilst we are all happily attending Christmas gatherings and events, it’s easy to forget that there are so many families that are really struggling - particularly at this time of year.

“The Christmas charity shopping spree is becoming somewhat of a Gresham tradition – the team love going out for the afternoon and buying the gifts – it creates a really great festive atmosphere and makes us all think about the true Christmas message.

“Although it’s only a relatively modest gesture, it is something I am proud of the team for doing – particularly as we know that the gifts go to families in our local area that might otherwise not receive any presents at Christmas time.”

A representative from the Barnardo’s Centre said: “I can't emphasise enough just how much difference your team's support makes to these families. We are, as always, so grateful.”
