A BOWDON pet grooming parlour was the subject of reality TV on Monday night as Ampika Pickston from The Real Housewives of Cheshire indulged her dog in some of its own precious pampering.

The celebrity took some time away from her own hair and beauty regime to let her Staffordshire bull terrier, Bella, enjoy the lavish pet treatments on offer at the Pet Retreat salon in Bowdon.

Ampika, who used to be married to multi-millionaire Mark Pickston and now has her own chain of hair salons, was accompanied by pal and fellow cast member Lauren Simon. Bella enjoyed a range of luxury treatments that wouldn’t be out of place in a human beauty salon, including the mineral mud bath and massage.

The treatment contains essential oils and minerals which help prevent broken hairs and eliminate impurities and toxins, restoring the coat's natural beauty.

Emma Brown, salon manager at the Pet Retreat, said: “It was great having the cast in and giving Bella the showbiz treatment that her owner regularly enjoys. I enjoyed being on TV and showing the audience what we’re all about, hopefully we’ll see more star pups in the near future.”

The ITVBe show is a spin-off of US show The Real Housewives of Orange County and it features some of the wealthiest residents of Cheshire. Other celebrities involved in the show include Tanya Bardsley, who is married to Sunderland footballer Phil Bardsley, and Leanne Brown, who is married to former England international Wes Brown. The show follows the cast around as they enjoy various social functions and shopping trips.

Commenting on their use of The Pet Retreat as a filming location for the fourth series of the show, assistant producer Sarah-Jane Whitehead said: “The feedback from your shoot was very positive. The location was great and staff were very accommodating according to the producer on your shoot.”
