A SPECIAL ‘Picnic in the Park’ will take place at Bowdon Recreation Ground on September 11.

The free event, hosted by the Friends of Bowdon Recreation Ground, aims to bring the community together to celebrate their park.

People are invited to bring picnics and enjoy a free afternoon of entertainment, games and fun for everyone.

For the Friends of Bowdon Recreation Ground group, the event also provides a great opportunity to talk about the work of the group, begin fundraising efforts and share potential future ideas for the park with as many members of the local community as possible.

Chairman of the Friends group, Thomas Hague, said: “We are delighted to be organising this Picnic in the Park. We hope it will be a great way of bringing our local community together and celebrating our local park.

"Whilst the recreation ground is a well used and popular area, we believe that there is a lot we can do to improve its facilities and make it appeal to, and be used by many more people.

"There is a great community within Bowdon and Bowdon Vale and this picnic is a chance for us to tell people more about what we hope to achieve and get as many local people and businesses involved.”

The picnic takes place between 12 and 3pm at the recreation ground, Hopkins Field, Bowdon (next to the Bollin School). . Attractions include entertainment, games, a raffle, tombola and a cake stall.

If anyone wishes to donate raffle or tombola prizes these can be left at Coffee & Kitchen Bowdon on Vicarage Lane up to September 9.
