A GOLFER completed a marathon 'round' at Ringway Golf Club, Hale Barns, to support the charity Cash for Kids.

Paul Atherton walked 28 miles as he completed 100 holes of golf on May 6 - and his efforts raised more than £3100, which will be used to ensure the wishes of children suffering from a life threatening or terminal illness can be granted.

Paul started playing at 5am and finished the 100th hole at 6.40pm. It took him 537 shots to get round, which included three birdies and 16 pars. The score was counted by official adjudicators who took turns to walked round with him.

He said: "It was the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm still aching now."

His next challenge is the Great Manchester Run on May 22, which he will be doing as Ant and Dec, who are patrons of Cash for Kids in the North East.
