It is understood, that the 80 space Victoria Road car park, will be closed to motorists until 9pm this evening, to allow for filming of an advert for the Iceland supermarket firm.

Hale businesswoman Dr Jacqueline Campbell described the closure of the Trafford Council owned car park as 'grossly unsatisfactory'.

She explained: "This is disruptive to business in every possible way. I cannot believe that Trafford could have given permission for such irresponsible action, yet the notice on the pay machine gave indication that it may well have ."On behalf of the village, I ask the council to place much needed controls on these producers who disrupt work, shopping and trade without any recompense."

Trafford Council confirmed that it was approached by a film company wanting to use the Victoria Road car park.

The council spokesman explained: "The council's normal procedures were followed and business owners who may be affected by the filming were contacted, although some of them were away at the time.

"Given that the filming was for one day only and there was adequate, suitable alternative car parks and on road parking provision in the locality, approval was given for this filming."
