Closure for Argos' store on Stamford New Road, Altrincham

ALTRINCHAM has suffered a bodyblow this week, after retail giant Argos revealed it is to close its town centre store.

Argos will shut its shop on Stamford New Road on July 20.

The company said it had made the closure decision after an 'in-depth review' and is trying to relocate staff.

In a statement the company said: "Following an in depth review of the provision of Argos services in the Altrincham area, we have decided to close the store on Stamford New Road in Altrincham.

"The store will close on July 20 and Argos is doing all it can to identify alternative employment for affected employees.

"Customers can continue to shop at the nearby Argos store at Altrincham Retail Park, Broadheath, which is less than a mile away."
