ALTRINCHAM will be the new home to the world's oldest pasty maker.

Warrens Bakery will arrive in Cross Street, Altrincham on November 28, selling an array of sweet and savoury bakes including autumnal traybakes, roast pasties and gluten-free pasties.

The bakery was established in 1860 and is the oldest bakery in Cornwall and oldest party maker in the world.

It has been tipped as one of the top three British craft bakeries in the British Industry Awards 2017.

The bakery has a strong focus on provenance and generations of bakers have passed down craft bakery techniques and traditions which has led to many accolades and prestigious awards including at the 2016 British Pie Awards, the World Pasty Championships and a number of independent radio polls.

Local family businessman Simon Vardy, who is working in partnership with the team said: "We are so excited to bring our local community a breakfast and lunch offer that is baked fresh in store each day and look forward to re-igniting our town's passion for having a truly British bakery in their high street."

The new bakery in Altrincham will contribute to its expansion across the UK and will bring the total number of Warren Bakery stores outside Cornwall and Devon to 11.

The chairman at Warrens Bakery, Mark Sullivan said: "It is an exciting step for us to be able to bring the 156-year-old heritage and the traditional tried and testes recipes of Warrens Bakery to the town of Altrincham - our furthest northern store to date.

"As the love of British craft baking continues to grow, plans to open more stores in the area are already in the pipeline and set up to create up to 200 job opportunities for local residents.

"The opening will mean Altrincham residents won't have to travel far to pick up a hand-crimped taste of the iconic pasties, so often enjoyed during holidays by the coast and we cant wait to hear that new customers thing of the new range of recently launched bakes."
