RESEARCH from Piccolo, the baby food brand, shows that nearly half of all parents (48%) fear they are doing something wrong when it comes to introducing their babies to proper food.

Whether it is the flavour, texture or quantity of the food to offer, British parents are feeling increasingly more daunted and anxious about embarking on the weaning journey.

To help get nervous parents back on track, Piccolo is embarking on a tour of the country, inviting local parents to Piccolo’s Mini Fiestas: a series of events aimed at encouraging, supporting and teaching them all about feeding their babies in the best and most nutritious way and help set them up for a lifetime of healthy eating.

To celebrate their new listing in Boots, Piccolo will be heading to Boots in Altrincham on today ( June 15) for an event supporting local families. Teaming up with Boots and Buggyfit, local mums will be getting together over fitness, food and fun.

The morning will be centred around a free workshop with infant nutrition specialist Alice Fotheringham, who will be on hand to dispel the myths and arm Reading parents with tips, tricks and recipes for feeding little ones. Following the class, Buggyfit will be running totally free exercise classes designed for postnatal mums and parents with their kids.

Talking about the event, Alice Fotheringham said: “It is always fantastic to chat to parents directly and help inspire and encourage. Weaning can be a daunting time for new families, but with some simple tips it can be a really positive and happy time. At Piccolo we know that those first taste experiences are so important, so I can’t wait to share some of our ideas and tips with parents in Reading looking for a bit of guidance.”

Piccolo’s Mini Fiesta will be at Boots, 1 Stamford Quarter Altrincham from 1.50pm on June 15.
