AN Altrincham opticians will be the place to seek out romance, thrills, suspense and a whole lot more when it stages a charity book sale on Thursday March 2.

Staff at Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care on George Street have donated books from home and collected titles from family and friends to sell in aid of Alzheimer’s Society and to mark World Book Day.

To add to the fun, the team will be dressing up as favourite book characters.

Branch manager Natalia Skowronek said: “Alzheimer’s affects a growing number of people in our community and there is a real need for continued research and support. Our book sale is a chance for us to raise funds and awareness for a cause we care about.”

Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society as its chosen charity for the third successive year after raising more than £28,000 so far. It was chosen because of the growing evidence of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.

Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care is a family run business which was established in 1938. It has 176 stores in England and Wales, with 1,000 employees.
