A REDUNDANT bank in the centre of Altrincham could soon make way for the ‘ultimate health bar’.

A planning application to transform the former Yorkshire Bank, in Stamford New Road, into a EAT:kaizen health bar, has been submitted to Trafford Council.

The restaurant would offer alfresco dining, under an on-street canopy awning, and would also have a takeaway service. The proposal is by Hale-based organic superfoods company Kaizen Living, which was launched in 2015.

The application applies to the ground floor and basement of 86 Stamford New Road and falls within the Stamford New Road Conservation Area.

Proposed opening times are 8am to 8pm, Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and 11am to 3pm on Sundays.

In the planning documents, its states: “The building change of use will add character to the setting. We understand there is a lot of regeneration in this area which is currently needed as the retail and commercial space has been slow to recover from the recession.

“Numerous units have been seen the upper floors changed into residential which will increase population, footfall and revenue in the area. This disposable income and apartment living will create a demand for food venues on this street.”
