Altrincham Hospital throws opens its doors to celebrate its first anniversary

The open day will give people a chance to take a look around the community hospital’s facilities and find out more about the wide range of general and specialist health services on offer.

Guided tours will be available throughout the open day and there will be refreshments.

The purpose-built hospital opened last April to replace previous outdated facilities in the old Victorian hospital on Market Street.

All services from the previous hospital transferred to the new development, including the nurse-led minor injuries unit for the assessment of minor conditions including fractures, burns and wounds where emergency nurse practitioners see 50-60 patients a day

Altrincham Hospital provides a wide range of general and specialist outpatient clinics, diagnostic services (X-ray and ultrasound), physiotherapy and phlebotomy (blood testing) for more than 24,000 patients every year.

These are complemented by a number of new and extended services including a new renal dialysis unit, the first time that maintenance dialysis has been provided in Trafford, together with a major expansion of adult ophthalmology (eye) services provided by experts from Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, and expanded adult and paediatric audiology (hearing) clinics where more than 5,000 patients are currently treated.

The hospital also has state-of-the-art digital radiography equipment that produces high quality X-ray and ultrasound images within seconds for consultant radiologists to review.
