THE Rotary Club of Altrincham has organised a blood pressure awareness day, formerly called stroke awareness, where you can receive a free blood pressure check up by qualified nurses to ensure your blood pressure is as it should be.

The event is at Tesco supermarket, in Altrincham, on Saturday, April 5, between 10am and 4pm.

Over the past few years, more than 500 people have had their blood pressure checked this way and around. 10 per cent were advised to seek further medical advice as a precaution.

Remarkably, last year one man went straight to hospital after his check up which probably saved his life.

Ken Garrity, of Altrincham Rotary Club, said: “With today’s hectic and stressful lifestyles, it is more important that blood pressure is monitored. This takes less than five minutes and could be a life saver.

No appointment necessary, just turn up on the day.
