THE Rotary Club of Altrincham have had a great start to their “toys n tins appeal” for the Salvation Army.

The club have placed Christmas boxes in various locations which are now starting to fill with toys n tins from donations of the public.

The appeal needs around 3000 new toys for children aged from 0-18years old and will be distributed throughout Trafford and surrounding areas in time for Christmas.

The toys and tins are now being collected by the Rotary Club members from the Christmas boxes located in Altrincham including Marks and Spencer food hall and ladies dept,George Street the Salvation Army shop, Boots, Rackhams first floor café, Randalls jewellers and Wilkos store. Also boxes are at Luxistore and Bocadillos café Timperley. Ashbrooks furniture store Washway Road and Salvation Army shop in Sale.

Rachel Steward from the Salvation Army in Sale said: "The Rotary Club of Altrincham give us great help in this event which goes to help numerous families who may otherwise not have such an enjoyable time."

The toys will be sorted into different age categories and delivered to needy families in time for Christmas. The tins of food can include treats such as biscuit, tins of sweets and other festive cheer.

Staff from Randalls Jewellers, George Street, Altrincham have been helping collect and sort the toys.

Santa courtesy of the Rotary Club will be making another appearance in Altrincham on Saturday December 9 at Kings Court, Cheshire Tap, Stamford New Road from 12-4p. The theme menu is “lunch with Santa”.
