A BREAST cancer charity is calling on Trafford to join its yuletide festivities at its annual Christmas celebration.

Prevent Breast Cancer, which is the UK’s only charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of the disease, will host its festive concert on December 1 at Manchester Cathedral.

Altrincham-based crowd-pleasers the Little Belters will open the concert with a comical take on a traditional nativity.

Their adult counterparts, the Absolute Belters, will also perform a set, with new group the Teen Belters putting on a comedy sketch.

Returning to the stage this year will be 17-year-old Alex Lees, who will perform a selection of Christmas favourites.

Adding to the line-up for the first time will be The Affetside Choir, with Altrincham-based the Music Place and the Nightingale Choir – a group of doctors, nurses, volunteers and NHS staff – returning to show off their vocal talents.

Prevent Breast Cancer concert veterans the Rock Choir will round off proceedings with a set of festive favourites.

Nikki Barraclough, executive director at Prevent Breast Cancer, said: “This year has been a real turning point for the charity – we’ve widened our message to younger audiences following our rebrand last year and we’ve been overwhelmed by the continued generosity and commitment from some of our longest standing supporters.

“Our aim is to create a future that is free from breast cancer, allowing both men and women to be protected from the disease. To do this, our fundraising goal is £1 million per year – we’re confident that we can achieve this and this event is, not only about raising vital funds, but also about saying thank you to our fantastic supporters, staff and researchers.”

Sponsored by Mr Flavour Events, the concert will also feature a festive market place, featuring cupcakes and sweet treats from Eat Me Drink Me, handmade signs and plaques from Rustic Plank and plants from ASAP Succulents.
