FAMILY-RUN butchers Taylors of Sale is inviting budding chefs to devise a new sausage recipe to help celebrate National Sausage Week.

The competition, which runs throughout the duration of National Sausage Week (October 27 to November 3) is open to anyone and the only rule is the recipe must be for a beef sausage.

The winner will see their sausage made for sale in the Taylors, in Northenden Road, and receive a £25 gift voucher.

Current head of the family-fun firm, butcher Sam Taylor, said: “Taylors of Sale might be one of the region’s oldest shops but that doesn’t mean we are resting on our laurels.

“We are always on the lookout for exciting new products and knowing our customers we will be inundated with delicious recipes to mark this special sausage week.”

As in previous years Taylors will be celebrating National Sausage Week by giving away 1lb selection packs of sausages with every 1lb purchased.

The business, founded in 1850, produces around half a million sausages every year. Sam Taylor is the sixth generation to run the shop.

Customers have until November 3 to submit their entries.

A shortlist will then be made and taste-tested before a winner is announced on November 10.

Entries can be hand-delivered to the shop, posted to Taylors of Sale, 138 Northenden Road, Sale, M33 3HE, or emailed to: sausages@taylorsofsale.co.uk
