RESIDENTS are being urged to let the council know what they think about its  'once in a generation' plans to regenerate Stretford.

A 10-week long consultation and engagement process, called ‘Your Say On Stretford’ is underway (10th October).

Council chiefs say this marks the beginning of an open conversation with the community on the refreshed Stretford Masterplan.

There will be public engagement events regarding the proposals with a main aim of gathering views and answering any questions.

The first public engagement session, at Stretford Public Hall on November 2, is now fully booked.

A further event will take place at Stretford Public Hall on Thursday 7 December, 7.30 - 9.30pm. This session is open to anyone from the local community. However, as places are limited the council has restricted registration to two tickets per person, and tickets will not be allocated to people who attended the November 2 event.

You can book at www.trafford.gov.uk/ StretfordMasterplan or visit www.eventbrite.co.uk and search for 'Stretford Masterplan'. You can also call 0161 912 1173.

There will be other consultation events around Stretford until the consultation period ends on 19th December. More details will be shared via the council website and in the local media.

People will also be offered the chance give their opinions via an online survey. It will be available at www.trafford.gov.uk/stretfordmasterplan until the consultation ends on December 19.

Council bosses say the Masterplan aims to create jobs, bring people into the town centre and enhance the economy by approximately £26 million per year.

As well as feedback on plans for Stretford town centre, the council is keen to hear people’s thoughts and ideas on plans to open a new higher education facility. The University Academy 92(UA92) is proposed to be located on the Kellogg’s headquarters site on Talbot Road in partnership with Lancaster University, the Class of ’92 and Microsoft.

Also included in the consultation are: proposals to deliver student accommodation on the Lacy Street site; how best to revive the Essoldo building, a new leisure centre for Stretford, and investment in Turn Moss, Stretford.

A summary of the proposals will be on display for people to view and comment on at Stretford Mall, Stretford Library, Stretford Leisure Centre and Trafford Town Hall from October 16. The complete plan can be found on the council website.

The council will consider all comments and use them to inform any changes before delivering the Masterplan back to the Executive for final approval in January 2018.
